EAST END, LONDON: CITY EDIT

Though a quick overnight trip to London barely scratches the surface of things to do, it avoids the pack-it-all-in nature of a longer weekend visit and lets you focus instead on discovering a single neighborhood more intimately. I stayed in Shoreditch, which many will argue for and against. This youthful, trendy, neighborhood has a lot to do, eat and see. Shoreditch is only a part of the East End, though, and there is plenty more to check out.

Here's my quick-trip itinerary for the East End in London:

Where to stay: The Hoxton - Shoreditch The Hoxton's rooms are cool, cozy and comfortable, and the hotel itself is well-situated and offers spectacular service. The spacious lobby is also a great place to catch up on a few emails or sit back with a drink and people-watch.

Things to do:

There are so many beautiful shops and delicious restaurants to explore in Shoreditch. Redchurch Street is a good jumping-off point, and below are a few more of my favorites in the East End.

Shopping:

Aida

Goodhood

W.A. Green

Beyond Retro Vintage

Jasper Morrison Shop

Dudley Waltzer Straw London pop-up Momosan Shop Artwords Bookshop

Broadway Market (Saturdays only)

To Eat + Drink:

Leroy Ozone

Oklava

Pidgin Scout The Marksmen

Jikoni (Actually part of the West End but too good to omit!)
